The pandemic that hit our world hard in February and March of this year, has forced us, along with agencies and businesses across the region, to re-evaluate how to continue to serve our community while ensuring the safety of clients, volunteers, and staff. We are truly grateful to have such an amazing team that has helped us continue to respond to the needs of the community throughout the pandemic.
Part of the evaluation process helped us recognize the increased needs of families due to layoffs and furloughs of so many non-essential workers. Because of this growing need, and because so many food pantries in the area closed temporarily, Isaiah 58 Ministries made the decision to suspend our service boundaries beginning in March, to allow us to serve everyone who come to us seeking assistance. We knew that other food pantries were closed, and we knew that the abundance we had should be shared with all.
Thankfully six months into the pandemic most food pantries have reopened, and we are now refocusing our services back to those who live in our service area.
Beginning Tuesday, September 1st, Isaiah 58 Ministries resumed serving only those who live in our service area which has now expanded to include ALL of 63104, 63110, 63118 and 63116 zip codes. This expanded service area is 3 times the square mileage of our pre-pandemic time.
To maintain a safe environment, we continue to serve all guests outside on our back parking pad, offering pre-packed bags of food that include shelf stable items, fresh produce, deli, meat and bread and baked goods as well as hygiene items and cleaning products.
Things to Know:
Masks are required for everyone on-site and are distributed as needed.
Currently, households in these zip codes may come for food bags twice (2x) per month.
If guests have not yet verified their address for 2020, they will be asked to do so.
We can refer guests to other food pantries and food resources.
EVERYONE, no matter where they live, is welcome to come on Mondays, Thursdays, and Fridays for extra produce and bread from 11am-1pm.
