Thankful for You!

By Rev. Meredith Jackson, Hunger Program Director

Last week we were able to distribute abundant bags of good food to our guests for Thanksgiving. Each household received a bag of shelf-stable items (with Thanksgiving classics, of course!), milk, eggs, a selection of produce, and a grocery gift card. Many volunteers came out to make this possible, and it was a busy weekend of packing bags, sorting produce, and welcoming guests for an early morning distribution.

Many thanks to our church partners who collected food items for the Thanksgiving bags. By each church collecting one item, we were able to combine our resources and generosity and fill all of the bags for our guests.

We are now preparing for our holiday store and Christmas food bags. To support this important work, donate here.

Thanksgiving 2021 Distribution

Thanks to these churches for their Thanksgiving collections:

Bonhomme Presbyterian, Carondelet UCC, Community Christian Church, Compton Heights Christian Church, Emmanuel Episcopal Church, First Congregational Church, Gethsemane Lutheran Church, Hope UCC, Ivy Chapel UCC, Ladue Chapel Presbyterian, Metropolitan Community Church, Parkway UCC, St John’s UC, St Lucas UCC, St Margaret of Scotland Parish, St Paul UCC, Southminster Presbyterian, Webster Groves Presbyterian

More photos from our Thanksgiving celebration:

Compton Heights Christian Church collected pie crust mix!
Oak Hill Presbyterian made a cake mix tower.
Members of St John’s UCC and Hope UCC collected produce – and delivered and sorted it – so that our guests could choose their own fresh food for Thanksgiving.
The hospitality table provided coffee and cookies to our guests.
Thanksgiving bags included standard thanksgiving items (stuffing, poultry seasoning, oil, etc) and some specialty items like baking goods and cake mix.
Many thanks to our volunteers who came out for an early (and cold!) morning.
