Can you believe it? Isaiah 58 Ministries has been a presence in south St. Louis city since 1972, working tirelessly to be a presence of hope and healing for so many, including both service recipients and ministry supporters!
Originally begun by 4 churches in our community, we are now supported by over 40 congregations and organizations throughout the St. Louis region! And still, after 46 years of successfully serving our community, we are continuing to seek ways to improve programs and services for our patrons.
As you may know, throughout our many years of service to the community, our food pantry has provided pre-packed bags of food for individuals and families in need. We have recently decided that it is time to move to a “choice” pantry that will allow patrons to choose what food they receive each month and in what quantities. This will both empower patrons and reduce food waste.
In order to implement this new system, we are renovating our food pantry space to provide a smooth and efficient process for both patrons and volunteers.
The first phase of these renovations took place during the week of October 16th through the 19th, with a deep cleaning of the space, painting, installation of new light fixtures and creating a new intake area with a new intake desk and counter.
Also during this time volunteers worked to clean and re-organize the thrift store and computer room to make the spaces more welcoming for individuals.
The second phase of the renovations will include the purchase of a new chest freezer, a stand-up freezer, and a refrigerator as well as other minor purchases.
You can make a contribution to our renovation fund, either through our website, or by mailing a check to Isaiah 58 Ministries, 2149 S. Grand Blvd., St. Louis, MO 63104. Please note in the memo “FP renovations”.
