By Greta Buck, Board Member
For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” Jeremiah 29:11
The Isaiah 58 Ministries Board of Directors, along with many others, spent the first half of 2021 working on a five year strategic plan for Isaiah 58 Ministries. The process was enlightening and fruitful. We gathered input from a variety of people, including our guests, donors, local leaders, partners, volunteers and staff members, on the strengths of Isaiah 58 Ministries and how we can build on these strengths to better meet the needs of the community. Through it all, we focused on the scripture from Isaiah 58 upon which the ministry is based, trying to discern and dream about where God is leading us next. We ended up with six Impact Statements to guide our goals and actions for the next five years.
- Isaiah 58 Ministries responds to the immediate needs of our guests.
- Isaiah 58 Ministries delivers robust and diverse programming focused on creating lasting change in our communities.
- Isaiah 58 Ministries commits to being fully funded and staffed (employees, volunteers, board), with ample physical facilities to carry out our mission acting as good stewards of our resources.
- Isaiah 58 Ministries advocates for justice around issues of hunger, poverty, and inequity.
- Isaiah 58 Ministries offers a joyful haven of diverse community, approaching our work with respect and dignity for all.
- Isaiah 58 Ministries communicates intentionally across the width and depth of our stakeholders, being visible to our community.
As a result, we have formed Impact Teams that are working hard to move us towards these goals. Each team is led by a board member and includes other volunteers and a staff person. The teams typically meet once a month and have already completed some wonderful projects and are working on others!
Want to help us make an impact in our community? Several of our teams can use more team members, especially teams 4, 5 & 6. We invite you to contact Brenda ([email protected]) for more information.
